    Pelvic Floor Therapy

The pelvic floor works as an integral part of a larger system, so a detailed social and medical history is key at the evaluation. You can also expect a core function and breathing assessment, strength testing, movement analysis, postural assessment, and (with consent) an internal vaginal or rectal pelvic floor muscle examination. There will be lots of education for you, some initial treatment, and initiation of an individualized home program. Follow up appointments involve treatment of the entire body and mind as needed with evidence-based interventions including self-care education, manual therapy, neuromuscular re-education, therapeutic exercise, nervous system re-training, and progression of home program. Modalities such as dry needling, visceral mobilization, cupping, and various other methods of myofascial release may be included. Established clients returning after delivering a baby, having surgery, recovering from a significant change in status, or returning to therapy between 90 days up to six months since last visit should schedule a re-evaluation.

Treating therapists have each completed over 100 hours of continuing education in pelvic health (including didactic and manual practice).
